June 2006 – Manor House Gardens, Lewisham
An interpretation of William Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night.
Contemporary words by Emma Warren
Directed by Sophie Austin
This story of revenge, trickery and unrequited Love was played out across the gardens. We took the audience on a hilarious adventure with darkness lurking around every corner.
The park became the backdrop to Illyria, where Viola is washed up looking for her brother. The play took on a filmic quality as the actors inhabited the whole of the park whilst the audience stayed seated. They watched as Sir Toby got into a fight in the distance and Malvolio, so in love, almost fell into the pond.
Meanwhile Orsino and Olivia revealed their hearts desires seated next to you on a picnic rug
